We recently bought a newly renovated house then aesthetic problems starting to show up on ceilings & flooding on the backyard. Of course the house inspector never had the chance to check the yard if its flooding until it flooded. Is this the seller's responsibility? Who do I need to contact if the seller is dodging my calls.
What did the seller's disclosure say? When you had the survey they should have disclosed the type of flood zone in which the house is located and for sure the insurance company would ask for that information. Did you use a real estate company to represent you when you made the purchase?
If you used a buyer's agent then contact that agent or his broker and explain what is happening. The aesthetic problems are usually superficial but the flooding could be serious. The flooding should have been disclosed unless this was a foreclosure and the disclosure was not provided.
Ultimately you are responsible for superficial issues and have no recourse. If the survey showed the house to be in a flood zone then once again that fact was disclosed and you chose to go through with the purchase. You would have no recourse. Sorry.
