low-voltage lighting is a popular feature of landscaping. Two pathways meet at 30degrees to each other. one pathway has the lighting, and the first light is placed where the two paths meet, as shown. the distance between successive lights is 5cm, and each has a range of effective illumination of 6m. for the second pathway, find, to the nearest tenth of a metre, the length that is
a) effectively illuminated
b) effectively illuminated by both B & C
c) effectively illuminated by light C or D
i dont get it ... what is the effective illumination? it says 6m .. does that mean that its the opposite of the triangle? i dont know how to start it
If you have a path drawn across your paper from left to right, another path veers up at a 30 degree angle. The exterior lighting starts at the point of separation and follows the path horizontally on your paper. The upper path continues to move away, and the light from the lower path begins to fade. Soon, the paths are more than 6 meters away, and the lights no longer have "effective lighting" for the veering path above. You are looking for that place.
