What is this silvery flower with purple scented little flowers and how do I prune it?
I live in the Midwest and have these silvery bush like flower in my landscaping. They get these purple tall thin flower stalks that smell really great, sort of like lavender, but I can't find a picture quite like these in any of the lavendar flower classification to figure out exactly what they are so I can better understand how to care for them. Mostly I need to know how and when to prune them. I haven't done anything with them in the last 2 years, some grow OK.. some get dead growth at the root but still grow up from it. I don't want to cut them all back if it's going to kill them.. but worry if I don't cut them back they will die.. HELP ! My profile pic shows a upclose picture of the foilage after the winter months.
Sorry, couldn't find the photo, and without one or more information, it's almost impossible to correctly identify your bush. Is it evergreen, what shape are the leaves, how tall is it,etc.? Buddleia comes to mind, but the leaves aren't silvery, and it grows to 6' or more. The sites below may help you identify it:
