Boss wont pay my husband for the last three weeks?
hi. my husband has been working at this small landscaping/nursery for the past month. the job is supposed to be paid weekly at $9.00. For all these weeks Tom (husband), has not had one day off. no lie. he has been working from 8am - 1130 at night at times with no lunch. yesterday he went to ask when is he going to get paid from the last three weeks (first week of work was paid with hand written payroll check). His boss told him he isnt going to pay him. We told him he had till thursday to pay or we'd call authorites. he laughed and walked away. This man has bounced checks all over the county, is in auction, and also owes maybe 8 more workers thier pay as well. We plan on calling our local labor board but we want to know if there is any sort of advice that could help. We know it will take forever to get a result but we're hopefull. Also, Tom is also a marine reserve so would it help to call his unit for help?
Sending in the Marines won't do anything. Labor board is your first step. Suing in small claims would be the next.
I'd look for another job right now.
