The Remarkable Chrome OS
The Android and Chrome OS's are Google's 2 newly produced platforms that they are working on. Chrome OS is mainly based upon their Chrome internet browser which runs web applications. It is intended to be a very simple, user-friendly computer OS which can be employed on several devices. The question is, where will this platform actually fit in? Note that there are different versions of Chrome OS, such as Google Chromium OS but eventually the official edition will win the fight Chrome vs Chromium as it is supported by Google developers.
It is hard to determine if a lot of people will move over to the Chrome OS. One major problem is that Android already exists. It is on several cell phones now and soon to be netbooks and tablet computers. Developers and manufacturers have been employing and developing for Android much more than Chrome. Although it is a good browser, there doesn't seem to be a place for it yet within the market.
Some people have argued that Google Chromium OS might be a quick boot alternative for Microsoft Windows computers. The concept is that you could boot into Google Chrome to send over quick emails or check something on your notebook or laptop. Eventhough this may appear like an ideal location for this type of technology to suit, there are already quite a number of options. Basically, many people use their smartphone for fast internet tasks. Second, if someone wants a fast boot system you will unearth a huge variety of free operating sysems which have been capable of doing that for several years.
It appears that if the American giant desires this operating system, they will have to make a Chrome OS hardware device similar to Nexus One phone using Android. This may be a tablet pc or a basic netbook pc that has been designed to operate on OS solely in order to boost it's brand.
yet one alternative is that Chrome and Android, and maybe Google Chromium OS, could become the same project in the future as Google attempts to entirely get into the OS market sooner or later.
Google will release the Google Chrome OS very soon, but many people are not sure where it'll fit into the current crowded OS landscape. In the future, we will not see what it can do and where it will be best suited, but if it'll be a good fit for your specific computing needs. As for the Chrome vs Chromium fight, things are becoming very interesting with independent programmers helping the community take advantage of this OS.
