Is it too late in the year to plant shrubs--I live in the northern Midwest...?
This is a new construction and I don't know the first thing about landscaping...I'd like to at least plant some bushes in front of my house but I'm wondering if it's getting too cold?
Please help!
Hi:
The best time to plant is in the fall or spring. With you having a new construction - you have a couple of options to think about. Phase planting is a great way to go about a new construction. Go ahead and plant some shrubs along the front of your house. If you are considering any trees, autumn is a great time of year to get them planted and get their roots established. This is also true about shrubs.
There are a couple of things to remember - make sure you plan - prep properly before planting. It is critical to have your ground prepared properly so you can ensure your plant specimens a good start. Take a look at my plan - prep -and plant page on my website. This will help you begin the steps to healthy and happy shrubs. Also take a look at my site map as there are numerous articles - pictures and descriptions of plants that may help you get started. I also have a page on new construction. Best of luck to you and if you need any further help, feel free to contact me.
