Landscaping Blacktop Driveway

landscaping blacktop driveway
I have a culvert that keeps getting clogged!?

I live on a steep slope and water continuously runs down into my yard and is ruining my lawn. I had my landscape guy dig a trench or culvert around the entire front of my house. This culvert worked and has stopped the water from coming into my yard, but now all the sand and silt keep washing into it and are completely clogging up the drain, which goes under my driveway. I tried to plant grass seed and weed seed, etc. in the trench but nothing took (it's very shady). Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I try grass seed again or get it blacktopped (which might be hard - it's in the woods, etc.). Thanks!

If it's "in the woods" that sand is going to be a constant problem.
Anything you plant in the trench will just collect sand/silt and gradually
close the trench.
Before you go to black-top, you might try those rolls of heavy plastic sheeting
used in gardening between rows.
If you can bury the uphill side of the strip it can line the trench bottom and
maintain the flow.
Then try digging a 'trap pit' ahead of the drain, and shovel it out periodically
as part of maintenance. At least the silt will all be in one place.
You will need to rod out that drain.
Some wire mesh at the drain pipe can help exclude floating sticks & leaves.
