You are a landscape artist designing a square patio that is to be made from 128 cubic feet of concrete. The thickness of the patio is 15.5 feet less than each side length. What are the dimensions of the patio?
Square patio volume = length * length * thickness [2 lengths because it's a square]
128 = x * x * (x- 15.5) [x is length]
128 = x^3 - 15.5x^2
0 = x^3 - 15.5x^2 - 128 (graph and find the zeros. Use the zero that makes the most sense.)
