How do I repair my lawn after a wtinter of squirrel digging?

I live in central NJ. In my front lawn, there are (2) acorn trees, aprox. 70 - 80 feet tall. The width of these trees cover my entire front yard.

Since the fall, with all of the fallen acorns, the squirrels have been having a field day with digging shallow holes all over my front lawn.

I do not have a landscaping service. I do what I can to maintain my lawn, but I don't have much of a green thumb.

So my question is, what is the best procedure to repair my lawn?

I know I need to either flatten or infill all of the holes, and reseed, but what is the proper way of doing this?

Holes made by the squirrels digging up the nuts that they buried in the autumn are usually quite small so you should only need to sprinkle some sand into the holes (or brush sand in lightly if there are lots of holes) and then top up with finely sifted soil (or compost). Grass seed shouldn't be necessary.
