Why do insurance companies try to cheat you for less than the estimates when you submit a claim?
My backyard landscaping was crushed, expensive trees, due to a hugh truck and trailor crashing down my hillside and now after submitting the required 2 estimates and pictures, etc. their insurance company still wants to only pay me less than a third of replacement costs.
You deal with your insurer first. You have them send out their guy to estimate everything.
If you make a claim your insurance company will go after the other.
As another said write down every call, message left, who you talked to, what was said, date, time and all of that. Take pictures of everything. That way you will be covered in dealing with this even if you have to take it to court.
It is this other insurance company's guy to screw you. You basically have to take the stance that you WILL get it fixed and add in more otherwise this will be HIS problem. Time off of work dealing with this, etc.
They bank on people giving in.
